Soldier 1: "We're not gonna make it ma'am! The Jump Gate is low on power and there aren't enough men standing to re-energize it." A man beside a giant structure yelled out as he observed its reading.
Leader: "Damn it!! How could the intel be so wrong?! Their power far exceeded what we were told!!" The squad leader yelled out in frustration.
Soldier 2: "The line isn't gonna hold much longer ma'am and the Remnants numbers are increasing by the second!!" Another soldier said as he approached from the battlefield, bloodied and injured.
Leader: "How much time do we have left soldier?" The leader asked as if any amount of time now would be enough to get her men home.
Soldier 2: "Considering how easily they took down the Main Unit... No more than a minute at best." The man said as he fell to his knees in both pain and defeat at the fact they now knew.
Leader: "Is there still no response from Rewdesh, how about Ishfu?" The frustrated officer said as she turned towards her subordinate.
Soldier 1: "No ma'am. Communication has been down for nearly an hour and we don't know what's causing the malfunction- Wait, hold on!! Something's coming through the portal!!
Leader: "Is it backup!? The Reserves!? How many are coming through!?" She yelled out, praying to the ancestors before her that they may make it through this.
Soldier 1: "According to the readings... only a single person... Ma'am. My guess is someone from Division 3 on routine to collect the fallen." The soldier said, knowing that someone from the medical corps. would offer no help in their defense.
Leader: "Well... they're gonna get more than they bargained for, won't they." She said with a crestfallen smile.
Turning back towards the battlefield, she resolved herself for what was certain to come.
"The odds aren't in our favor, I'll admit that. They weren't since we stepped foot on this damned planet and I take full responsibility for this lapse in judgment. But I ask you now, as we face death, to fight alongside me." She said as the last of her remaining soldiers looked at her with nothing but respect and determination as a flash of light emanated from the gate.
"Not a soldier here wouldn't fight alongside, you ma'am. But if I may, no one standing here before you will die tonight, not while I'm here" A voice from behind her said as the individual passed her, walking towards the battlefield, swarming with Remnants.
"Is that so?" The leader said as she observed the man before her, noticing immediately that this person wasn't one of her men. "May I ask the name of our self-proclaimed savior?"
"Me, ma'am? I'm just a soldier." The man said as a gust of wind swayed his lengthened hair, revealing a tattoo of 9 moons upon his back before he suddenly disappeared from their sight.
"Who does that guy think he's kidding? A member of the medical corps stands no chance against a single Remnant much less a horde of them." The soldier said, believing the newcomer's bravado to be falsely placed.
"Yeah, I mean he's just gonna get himself killed out there without any backup. We should go and support him, ma'am... ma'am?" He said as he and the other soldiers turned back towards their leader, noting a distinct lack of response.
"Soldier, do you know what the task of Division Zero is?" Their leader said without moving at all.
"I'm sorry ma'am but there's never been a division by that number within our ranks. Are you alright?" He said as he feared his leader may be suffering from Battle Syndrome.
"It's an unofficial title we who've been around long enough to know of its existence call it. Surely you've heard of the ones we call Legends, correct?"
"Of course ma'am, but the last Legend died many years ago. Why are you bringing this up now?" The soldier said, visually confused.
"Because that man that stood before us is without question a Legend. The marking upon his back is a testament to that very fact."
The soldiers failed to believe what they were hearing, after all, it was assumed that it would be many years until the rise of a new Legend. But if what their commander was saying was in fact true then..."
-
The group of soldiers rushed to the edge of the plateau and observed the warrior inch closer and closer to the enemy. While a single Remnant alone wasn't too much to worry about, a group could spell trouble even for the most seasoned of warriors. However, what lay ahead was something far worse than a simple grouping of dragons, this was a hoard, a walking catastrophe.
The soldiers looked on in anticipation, ready to see the extent of power this new Legend possessed. No one knew exactly what brought about the creation of the Legend, nor how its power was passed down throughout the generations but there was something that all Primal Saiyans did know. The Legend was undoubtedly a force not to be reckoned with.
And as this soldier faced the hoard of no less than a million dragons of varying types, he showed no sign of fear or resignation as they attacked from all sides.
"Ma'am, what's he doing?! I understand that he's supposed to be powerful but no matter how much power he possesses there's no way he can take them on without transforming." The injured soldier stated, believing this person's pride to blind them from the threat he stood against.
While she agreed with his observation of battle tactics, it became clear to her no one would be idiotic enough to battle without a plan of success.
"Keep quiet and watch, we're about to see something only a handful of Saiyans have ever borne witness to."
The warrior gave little resistance, maintaining his stance as the hoard seemed to swallow him in a frenzy until he could no longer be seen. While their sight was obscured, they could still sense his presence. And the moment they began relying on their ability to sense Ki, they understood.
In a blinding flash of light, the hoard was flung away from its target at an accelerated speed. While the light was blinding, the amount of Ki radiating from the warrior was astronomical. If anyone of their power was compared to his it would be as though a match was contested against the sun itself, there was simply no contest.
And as the light of his aura stabilized they could now see clearly what form he had taken. If the tattoos etched into his form weren't proof enough then the orange fur upon his figure truly showed... he was the Legend.
A warrior so powerful and possessing a form so drastically different from any other it required its own name. Shizaru, the one without evil.
They only saw him for a moment as it seemed like an orange flame raced across the battlefield, tearing his enemies apart without reservation in the quickest most effective way any of the warriors had seen before. And while many couldn't see the full extent of his actions the leader of the squad saw it all and observed that despite his swift actions and immense speed the face of the warrior showed no glimpse of hatred for those he dismembered. She only saw pity.
And before any could realize it, the hoard of over a million was reduced to a pile of bodies on the floor in a matter of seconds.
Where a squadron of highly trained warriors required extensive knowledge of their enemy and proper planning, this man decimated those before him with little effort, regardless of the type of Remnants.
And as the hulking figure of their savior, no less than 7 ft tall, returned they could only stand in awe. Reverting back to his original state he continues to march past them, setting his sights on the gate that he came through mear moments ago. Placing his palm above a sphere his hand glowed, energizing the portal to full capacity in an instant before turning around.
With a smile that betrayed his bloodied figure, he spoke once more, "You guys sure did have it rough didn't you, having to face off against a hoard as only a single squad. Thankfully, the Commander permitted me to take you all back safe and sound. Now, why don't we all head back."
The soldiers were at a loss for words, THE Commander issued the safe return of their squad and from none other than the Legend himself?! It was truly an honor.
As they all walked through the now energized portal they all felt a sense of relief to be back on Outpost 7 and away from Sector 19. However, not all were quick to believe the words of their savior. Squad Leader wouldn't deny that had he not arrived when he did they most certainly would've faced certain death and for that, they owed him their lives. But one thing still bothered her, why would they send the Legend to save them? He was a valuable asset that must be maintained at all times, not something you sent out for recovery missions, especially one's so far away from the main forces, even if there were signs of a hoard. Her intuition told her that something else was going on.
As she exited the gate on Outpost 7 she turned back to question the young hero, however, she never got the chance as the portal quickly began closing behind them. And as that portal receded she saw him look back at her squad with a small smile before he spoke.
"Oh and Lieutenant, the names Lentil... Lentil Veil. Until we see each other again." And as the portal closed she caught a glimpse of something that made her realize the true reason behind why he was sent there. He wasn't meant to save them... they were supposed to die today... to draw out the true enemy, and if what she saw was any indication then it was one worthy of fighting the Legend. After all, not everyone can take on a dragon the size of a planet.
