I know there some negative nancies out there, but DBFZ is sold over 10 million copies (same as XV2, which came out over a year earlier) and is still one of the most played fighting games in competitive tournaments, so a sequel is all but assured for the future.
Despite the rumors of them falling out with Bandai Namco, ArcSystem Works did work on the latest balance patch for DBFZ:
The only question of matter is when DBFZ2 is coming out?
Probably Q4 2026 at the earliest...

Seems Bandai Namco announced a new game 4 days ago, it will be called Dragon Ball Gekishin Squadra (not sure if it's stilized as Squ4dra), which seems to be a "capture the base" type of MOBA, with three classes: Damage, Tank and Technical (supports/healers).
It has an official trailer and an official site for it.

The game is probably gonna be new gen so assuming they are running it on a whole new engine, some deep cuts are expected.
Certain characters like Goku, Vegeta, and Android 18 I believe would be revamped with different movesets, different attire, etc.
Gohan (Beast) and Ganma Bros. will be unlockables but can be purchased via DLC or a pre-order bonus, along with the new villain.
We know Sparking! Zero will be going through its DLC cycle by the end of this year and Dragon Ball Project: Multi (which seems to be a smaller project) will be the DB video game of 2025.
What we will be getting for 2026 is anyone's guess, but my money is still on Dragon Ball FighterZ 2. XV3 isn't happening because Bamco seems like they are supporting XV2 indefinitely with DLC like certain highly popular games such as Minecraft and Bloodborne, which are still receiving new content to this day well after their initial release dates.
FighterZ was confirmed to be done with new content after the new gen update, so the next big move for the game has to be a sequel since it's so incredibly successful plus there is plenty of room for improvement including missing characters (especially the champ himself, Mr. Satan!!), less homogenized meta, improved PvE content, proper rollback implementation, etc.
Not to mention the DBFZ World Tour will be rapping up early next year and ArcSystem is no longer busy with their own games so... DBFZ2 is all but assured for the future.
There aren't many qualifiable options, but notable candidates are Grandpa Gohan, Nam, Eighter, Chi-Chi (kid or young adult), King Piccolo, and Mercenary Tao.
IMO 23rd Budokai Chi-Chi (with BoZ Chi-Ch as an alt) and King Piccolo should be next...
