Beerus. God of Destruction of Universe 7.

I rate him 9.5/10.

His introduction in DBZ: Battle of Gods was an absolute banger, and dare I say, divine. Learning of a God beyond the Kai’s was one thing, but learning he wields such power that he completely decimated all of the Z fighters without even trying, and required Goku to reach a new, godly level of power to even put him, and yet still wasn’t even close to matching him. And after that, he doesn’t fight much, but when he does, he continues to show how powerful he is, especially in the Manga, where he dominates Blue Vegeta in two different occasions, even after Vegeta gets magnitudes stronger, and was even able to hold his own against multiple other Gods of Destruction and gain an advantage, and he continues to be a bar of power that Vegeta and Goku need to rival, and continues to be a height of power that if any villain even gets close to reaching, Goku and Vegeta get instantly out matched.

He’s pretty awesome, and his destruction powers are just next level. But he is pretty funny too, and I just adore his relationship with Whis.

But that’s my opinion, what do ya’ll rate him at?

Beerus' scale has been one of those things everyone talks about. Why can't Goku and Vegeta surpass Beerus, even when Whis said Goku already did? How come Beerus can still kick their rears? Well, we actually already know. Now, having not had the pleasure of reading all of the manga (I read as much as Mangadex allows), and I managed to get my hands on most of the Moro Arc. I'm not certain Whis ever said Beerus was ever surpassed. That being said though, considering anime and manga both work off the same outline, Goku possibly did surpass Beerus. So if we use the excuse that they both use the same outline, likely that even if not mentioned, Toriyama-sensei likely agreed, then we can assume. But the point is, why can't he be beat? The answer was already given to us, and that answer is Ultra Ego.

The technique for Ultra Ego is described as the power the Destroyers use. This is the Manga's version of Destroyer Mode. This technique stands opposite of Ultra Instinct which is the idea of letting go of yourself. Ultra Ego is the idea of indulging one's self. And Beerus is very self-indulgent. The form's power is shown to grow depending on how much fun the user is having. Vegeta indulges, but for him to enjoy the battle, he must take damage. This is not how Ultra Ego is supposed to work, which is why it's unmastered. The true power comes from enjoyment, not damage. Beerus loves his job, more than any other Destroyer. This is why he's technically the best. Despite others being stronger than him, he can take them all on at once as shown at the Zeno Expo in the Manga. This is likely the same for UI Goku. He has surpassed Beerus, but Ultra Ego carries. Like Goku and Vegeta, Beerus is a battle maniac. The whole reason he woke up early, and the reason he doesn't go back to sleep for long periods, is because he wants a strong rival in Goku and Vegeta. The stronger Goku and Vegeta get, the happier and more excited Beerus gets. The more excited Beerus gets, the stronger Ultra Ego will make him. So yes, Beerus is a moving goal post. But that part of him is now plot point, and the same thing Vegeta is studying to do. Ultra Instinct is a great technique and ability, but it's highly passive and it does have a strength limit. Ultra Ego however has no real limitations on power, which leads me to believe Ego is superior for someone like Goku and Vegeta. UI is far cooler, but UE is more useful and easier to attain. Why else did True Ultra Instinct even exist if not to show that the Mastered version was holding Goku back?

Beerus told Vegeta that, just as Goku's issue is trying to be something he's not, this is Vegeta's issue too. Vegeta has become caring. Vegeta has a better mindset in his younger years, particularly in the years between the Saiyan Saga and the Buu Saga. Prince of Destruction Vegeta after receiving his Majin Mark was in particular the version of Vegeta that Beerus would have wanted to train. Then, he was willing to do whatever it took to satisfy his hunger for destruction. Now he's more sensible, and that's a detriment to Vegeta's character. At least from Beerus' standpoint. Beerus has no qualms and will gladly kill and destroy to make himself happy. He doesn't exactly forego all morality of course, but he does do his own thing. The very fact that Beerus is a bad Destroyer compared to the other more business minded Destroyers of the other 11 universes is what makes him a good Destroyer. Beerus is more self indulgent than the other Destroyers. And that's why he's superior. His role is a game. When you love what you do, you will never work a day in your life. Beerus lives like he's on vacation, doing EXACTLY what he likes. Sleeping, eating, and fighting. And he does so at his own leisure. The Kai hate him because he doesn't destroy the way others do. He destroys based on if he likes a place, not if that place is particularly filled with potential.

Beerus simply loves fighting, and due to his mindset and self-indulgent nature, he will always be stronger than Goku and Vegeta until they discover how to use the same power. Beerus mixes UI with UE, which is why he never mastered it. Goku shouldn't try to master Ultra Instinct anymore, and Vegeta should focus on his Ultra Ego's perfection while molding his personality to loosen up a little. Maybe then he'll pick up a little Ultra Instinct to mix Ultra Ego. Once they can do that, they'll likely be able to surpass Beerus.

Oh, and due to how Ultra Ego works compared to a Saiyan, Vegeta's path is more viable, and he can and possibly will surpass Goku unless Goku switches things up again and finds a way to copy Vegeta.

I hold my hand out in the Hakai pose, and then make random beep noises. Then, I say, in camparri's voice "Lord Mosco says, 'I have hakai'd you'", then my friends will fall back dramatically >:3
