Previous Chapters: Blog
In the previous chapter, we saw Tyber join the Galactic Patrol as a cadet; initially viewed with suspicion and the target of bullying/discrimination due to him been a Saiyan. However, he would be aided by Jiya and Merus and - with his polite and respectful attitude - slowly started to win over the other Galactic Patrolmen as well; Tyber learning more about Jiya's previous mission on Earth in the process as well as learning how to sense energy/suppress his own thanks to a Namekian Galactic Patrolman named Luma.
He sadly learned that Kakarot's pod had apparently never reached Earth and that Bardock's prediction was correct - seeing video of his last stand against Frieza - but learning from other video footage that Raditz was still around; been more willing to enter a fight but also more merciful towards civilians. Following this, Tyber started to learn the Spirit Cannon/Final Spirit Cannon technique to honour Raditz's family.
Although Merus at one point contacted Whis about the "Super Saiyan God" myth (after hearing Tyber's backstory) and the prophecy that had been told to Beerus, Whis forbade his younger brother from teaching Godly Ki or other divine techniques to the Saiyan as it could cause trouble.
In any case, Tyber's time as a cadet ended in Age 740, with him spending the next three years training properly to become a Galactic Patrolmen - having failures and setbacks but carrying on relentlessly. Sure enough in Age 743 and after his growth spurt, Tyber - now 18 - "graduated" and became a member of the Galactic Patrol; getting his own custom uniform as a result before taking a ship and setting off to perform his duties.
As usual, be prepared for a decent amount of text...
---
- Following his "graduation" into a fully fledged Galactic Patrolman and the start of his job properly, Tyber quickly began to make it clear that he was a force to be reckoned with when it came to dealing with criminals/criminal activity.
This included him taking down various criminals like the two-headed Synthesizer, an "up-and-coming" Saute-jin crook by the name of Gryll and the anarchist paramilitary group known as the MB Army; one of their most notable members been the self-proclaimed "#1 assassin in the universe", Kurilien.
In a surprise confrontation on Planet Rubokk (where Tyber had stayed for a while), the Saiyan found himself having a rematch with Peppa when the crook escaped custody during an attempted transfer from Rubokk Prison to the Galactic Patrol Prison on Planet Nutts; Tyber wasting no time in taking the warrior-turned-outlaw down, although this time he required neither a wrench nor the need to break Peppa's nose again.
- His victories weren't all solo acts, however, as sometimes he would work as part of a team of Galactic Patrolmen to achieve a mission. As a quirk of his, Tyber had been working on a trick where he would spin his gun on his index finger before placing the weapon back in its holster - with the reason he did this been that, during his time staying with Spanna's family on Planet Rubokk, Spanna's son Sanda would watch a TV series about a vigilante who would pull the same trick after taking down a criminal.
As such, Tyber had decided to learn the technique for himself - both because he liked the idea of appearing as a "cool" role model to boys (hopefully encouraging them to stay away from crime in the process) and because it was a less awkward "quirk" than Jaco's posing. Jaco himself claimed that he thought the spinning gun trick was dumb, although Jiya later told Tyber that he had seen Jaco trying it out in secret - which just gave the Saiyan a good laugh.
Tyber had even managed to do it following his "rematch" with Peppa, which had been recorded by one of the news services on Rubokk following Peppa's escape from custody; Sanda indeed watching with his parents and sister at home, with them cheering after seeing Tyber beat the outlaw once more.
- His time with his fellow Galactic Patrollers also strengthened their faith and trust in him, as Tyber proved more than capable of holding his own against most threats. On the flip side, he was capable of showing compassion to certain lawbreakers instead of simply "decking them in the schnoz", along with putting in the extra effort to solve the bigger problems rather than just treating the "symptoms".
One such example was when they were in the process of transporting a felon - only to see a shoplifting incident happen right before them as a woman ran out of a store while been pursued by the security staff. Tyber was the one to stop her, with it been revealed that the woman had stolen some food and milk; her tearfully explaining that her boss hadn't been paying her or the other staff their full wages, with her now in debt and with two children to feed.
Hearing this and after confirming the woman's backstory, Tyber paid for the food and milk with his own wage - much to the woman's gratitude - and attended her workplace; finding out that the boss was the Granddaughter of the owner, but had been stealing money from the company because she believed that she could get away with it under the belief that her family wouldn't fire her. As such, said boss was arrested and – to her shock – later fired, with the owner stepping in and having the money that had been taken from the worker's wages returned to them.
- As a result, Luma - the Namekian Galactic Patrolman who had taught Tyber how to sense energy and suppress his own - began to open up more about his own past. This included about him been a "Dragon-Clan" Namekian, how his desire to travel the universe like the Namekians of old and his desire to help others leading to him joining the Galactic Patrol, along with the revelation that he had a total of 108 siblings back on Planet Namek.
To which he also explained the events of Age 261, when a climate shift on Namek caused violent storms that almost wiped out the Namekians; his father Guru been the only survivor and the one to repopulate the Namekian race via asexual reproduction. When Tyber questioned politely if Luma would do it himself one day to have one or more sons of his own, Luma chuckled and replied that while he was capable of doing so, only Namekian elders were allowed to birth eggs.
Luma also talked about Namek's Dragon Balls, what they looked like and how they worked - but stated that they could not revive entire species (only one person at a time) and were protected in several ways to prevent opportunists from stealing wishes.
- Along with Luma, Tyber found himself talking to Merus about his past; this happening after noting that he couldn't sense the Patrolman's energy. To this, Merus passed it off as his species having Ki that couldn't be sensed - in the same way some things cannot be detected with one or more of the other senses. In regards to his past, Merus states that he is a member of an ancient but long lived race - albeit with his father, brothers and sisters been the only ones left for reasons he didn't wish to go into. That said, he did state that his family all lived very far away - with his father working for a King while his siblings worked for important individuals in other roles (telling the truth from a certain point of view).
As for Merus, he states that he chose to be in the Galactic Patrol as he desired to protect the galaxy - finding it all so thrilling and exciting - and because he respected the tenacity of the Galactic Patrolmen, even when they were confronted with difficult or impossible odds; in turn viewing peace as something worth fighting for. Tyber found this rather inspiring, especially as Merus himself always remained humble of his abilities despite been the best of the Galactic Patrolmen by a significant amount.
- Five years later in Age 747, Tyber intercepted a distress call from Jaco to Galactic Patrol; him having crash-landed on Planet Rudeeze while heading for an oasis on the planet, with the attack having come from giant, antlion-like arthropods known as Sandipedes. When Tyber answered the call and responded that he would help as he was the closest to Rudeeze at the time, Jaco suddenly got cagey and started trying to make excuses about it been no rush and that he'd wait for the next ship. Before Tyber could question what Jaco was up to, a female voice could be heard in the background, followed by Jaco hurriedly trying to silence her:
"Jaco, we can't wait! Those things are trying to get in and the ship's getting buried!"
"Quieten down or he'll hear you!"
- With his curiosity now peaked, Tyber repeated that he was on his way and sped towards Rudeeze; landing in the Oasis area that Jaco and his "passenger" had been heading for before exiting his ship and following the co-ordinates to where Jaco's ship had crashed.
Sure enough, Jaco's ship was under attack by several Sandipedes - the largest of which was a single individual dubbed "Scorpulon". Needless to say, after dodging their sand blasts and jumping/flying attacks, Tyber was able to take down all of them with a barrage of Ki Blasts - with him using his Twin Cannon to destroy Scorpulon's tail and blow off the arthropod's head. With that, Tyber was able to get underneath Jaco's ship and lift it up out of the sand - carrying it into the oasis so that Jaco and his "passenger" could exit safely.
- To Tyber's surprise after a sheepish-looking Jaco emerged from the ship (looking as well like he'd been smacked in the side of the head), the passenger in question was revealed to be a blonde-haired human girl from Earth; said girl thanking Tyber for rescuing them and introducing herself as Tights.
However, when Tyber introduced himself and stated he was a Saiyan, Tights suddenly looked nervous - with Jaco assuring her that there was nothing to worry about; him then revealing to Tyber that Tights was a girl who helped him when he crashed on Earth in Age 737 during his mission to prevent what was believed to be a Saiyan infiltration baby from landing on Earth (or arresting/killing it when it got there). However, he had informed Tights at the time - as he hadn't met/worked with Tyber yet - that the Saiyans were all brutal planet conquerors, based on the information the Galactic Patrol had; hence why he was reluctant for Tyber to be the one who helped them.
Although somewhat frustrated at first, Tyber understood why this was the case and clarified some facts to Tights; that been that the Saiyans were enslaved and forced to conquer planets by a “greater evil”, with not all of his people fitting the mold of "brutal planet conqueror" - with Tights thankfully accepting this and relaxing somewhat.
- With that, Tyber got to work on fixing Jaco's ship as best he could, with Tights swimming around in the waters of the oasis while Jaco kept a lookout for any other Sandipedes. Due to the heat, Tyber ended up taking off the upper half of his suit while he was working on the repairs - with Tights sneaking a glance or two at Tyber's physique; his time training having given him some well-defined muscles.
Sure enough, Tyber was able to patch up Jaco's ship well enough so that it would be able to get back to Headquarters, but it would need a proper repair and clean out before making any more trips, so taking Tights home was no longer an option for Jaco. As such, Tyber offered to take her back instead, to which Tights accepted as she had no other ride home now and she was curious to see what this Saiyan was actually like; Jaco warning Tyber to keep her safe but not really having much else he could say or do in this situation.
- As a result, Jaco began his trip back to Galactic Patrol Headquarters while Tights joined Tyber aboard his ship. During their journey back, the two begin talking; Tights talking about her family (albeit leaving out the big about them been the richest people on Earth), how she and Jaco met - including how he saved her and East City from a crashing rocket - and her job as a sci-fi writer, with this been the reason Jaco had reluctantly taken her into space as she had been wanting some inspiration for her novels.
In turn, Tyber reveals more about his own life - from growing up on Planet Vegeta, travelling around space after his homeworld was destroyed, his time training to be a Galactic Patrolman, etc. - with Tights intrigued by it and sympathizing with some of the sadder parts of the story, in particular that Tyber's home was gone and the fact that he was among the last of his kind now.
Needless to say, when they did get back to Omori's Island on Earth, Tyber gave Tights his communicator for if she wanted to go anywhere and if Jaco was unavailable, with Tights thanking him for this and wishing him well; the two ending their first meeting on a positive note.
- Tights would indeed follow up on this, with Tyber showing up to take her to different places to get inspiration for her books. While Jaco was initially taken aback by this, he did see the positives as - with Tights asking someone else to act as a taxi service for her - it freed him up to spend time with a girl he'd met back on his homeworld.
In any case, Tyber took Tights around to numerous different planets in order to show off more of the galaxy (kind of like a "Doctor and his companion"-style relationship), with the two genuinely having fun times together while occasionally finding themselves having to help others and deal with criminals along the way. One such event was when they encountered the "space swindler" Dolltaki - who was pretending to be a psychic medium and charging money to grieving families in order to pretend that he was "communicating" with their deceased loved ones; ending his readings by telling them that their loved ones wanted them to come back for repeated visits (in order for him to scam them more).
Angered by this deceit, Tights volunteered to see him next; pretending that her father had passed away - with Dolltaki trying to scam her while she pretended to be amazed and intrigued at his "readings", with Dolltaki ending the reading by asking her to come back for more. At this moment, Tights then revealed that all his information was wrong - with Tyber bursting in and arresting Dolltaki while praising Tights for her help.
- Despite Jaco accepting that Tyber had taken over his "task" of taking Tights around the galaxy, he did return to Earth alone in Age 749 to reunite with her, Omori and Katayude to reminisce on the events from his original adventure in Age 737, which had ended with Jaco's crashed ship getting repaired, his mission seemingly complete and Capsule Corporation gaining the anti-gravity technology from his ship to create hovercars. Jaco also brought along a photo of him and his girlfriend - albeit with Omori not sure who was who and assuming the shorter one to be Jaco.
Tights' sister Bulma also showed up later that day after Jaco had left; revealing that she was on an adventure of her own after finding a mysterious orb in their family's basement that was made of non-Earthly material - having put together a radar to track others like it and indeed finding another in the North Valley, with her intention been to see if the legend surrounding the orbs of granting a wish were true. Bulma would later leave and head to Mount Paozu; having an unexpected meeting with a certain child and going on a bigger adventure than she realized.
As for Tights, she ultimately forgot about this and didn't bring it up in any major detail to Tyber the next time they met up; just that her sister was off on a journey and likely nothing major would come of it.
- On one of their adventures in Age 750, however, things got more serious as Tyber intercepted a distress call while they were passing Planet M-2. When the two landed, after dodging a barrage of missiles and laser fire, it was chaos - with them getting taken into a “resistance” base before learning that the surviving population were fighting a losing war against a race of powerful artificial beings known as "Machine Mutants"; most of the people of their world either dead or in hiding. It was explained to the pair that it started when a mysterious meteor crash landed on their world in Age 740, with their top scientist - Dr. Myuu - investigating it, only to disappear with the meteor. After that, Myuu returned but was now in charge of the Machine Mutants, with him sending them to kill the rest of his people and blocking long-range radio transmissions so they couldn't call for help; been luck that Tyber was nearby and close enough to get a message to.
Hearing the story, both Tights and Tyber agreed to help in this "War Against the Machines" - with Tyber flying out into battle and using both his strength and Ki attacks to wipe out the majority of the Machine Mutants that came his way; allowing the "M-2 Resistance" to gain ground and try to regain control of important facilities, with Tights managing to override the long-range communication block and call the Galactic Patrol for help.
(Since it's only Age 750, I'd say the Machine Mutants are less advanced/powerful - like how the Terminators had to go through several earlier variations before the T-800 and beyond. As such, there's also no Sigma Force at this time and it's ten years before the alien who would become General Rilldo would arrive, so he's not here either).
- Thanks to Tyber and Tights, the resistance are able to make rapid territorial gains; additionally disabling any anti-air weaponry so the rest of the Galactic Patrol would have a safer landing. With the majority of the Machine Mutants wiped out, Tyber and Tights set off after Dr. Myuu himself - with him escaping to his lab via a teleport but not been fast enough to deactivate it before Tyber and Tights also used it to catch up to him.
Despite his attempt to fight back with a Psychic Bomber, Tyber quickly brought the renegade scientist down and handcuffed him - with Tights checking through the computer files. Her search revealed the full extent of Dr. Myuu's goals as his "Total Galaxy Conquest Operation" was uncovered, along with details surrounding the object that landed in Age 740 - with Tyber, much to his horror, seeing that the "pod" had Tuffle language written on it; getting uncomfortable reminders of his time growing up in the Saiyan-Tuffle War.
- When Myuu's "creation" was revealed thanks to Tight's computer skills and despite Dr. Myuu's pleas, Tyber wasted little time in powering up a Final Spirit Cannon and blasting the incubation chamber. This attack vaporised the Tuffle parasite entirely, due to it been weaker, much less developed and thus in no condition to defend itself (similar to the incarnation of Cell that Future Trunks and Krillin destroyed in the main timeline). Following this, the trio are forced to flee as the lab initiates a self-destruct sequence - returning via the teleport to Planet M-2 before Myuu's planet explodes.
Once back on M-2, Myuu lambastes Tyber for destroying his "creation" (unaware that it was actually Baby who programmed him after taking him over in the past), although Tyber states that Myuu should feel ashamed of how many people he murdered; many of whom were likely good and innocent.
To this, Myuu chuckles before replying with a stinging rebuke:
Myuu: "That's rich, considering how much 'good and innocent' blood is on your people's hands, Saiyan. No matter how righteous you try to be or the excuses you tell yourself to make it easier to sleep, know this...when it's time for you to join your people in Hell, you'll find plenty of 'good and innocent' blood on your hands".
- Tyber didn't respond and simply waited for his colleagues to arrive and take Dr. Myuu away. While the Galactic Patrol assisted with the resistance and other survivors that evening, Tyber was left to mull on Myuu's words. When Tights came over to talk to him about it after sensing that he was upset, Tyber admitted that been reminded of the evil deeds that his people committed under Frieza and his father King Cold is something that still got to him, especially as Myuu did make a valid point; Tyber may not have killed any innocents directly during his time on Planet Vegeta, but he helped facilitate it by ensuring that the Saiyan's ships and other technology worked so they could do that job on Frieza's behalf.
All in all, he was left wondering why he was doing what he was doing and if there truly was a point to any of it.
- Tights, however, was able to remind Tyber of the good he had done, both in changing the perspective people had on his race and just helping people in general - such as what he'd done that day on M-2; ensuring that their people would survive to rebuild and start again, with neither Dr. Myuu nor his "Baby" able to cause harm to anyone else now. She added that the Saiyans were merely dealt a bad hand - with them maybe having done better things for themselves and others if fate rolled the dice differently - and that if Tyber had flat out refused to be any part of the Saiyan's way of life, there's no telling what may have happened to him; be it exile, imprisonment or worse, which would have made things worse for others in the long run.
- Finally, she stated that her own perceptions of him had changed from when they first met; having initially believed him to be the "brutal planet conqueror" as Jaco had originally described the Saiyans to be, but now having seen that there was nuance and differences - with her pointing out his positive characteristics such as his determination, drive, strength and compassion.
Tyber, feeling better, thanked Tights and also complimented her positive characteristics in turn - stating that he admired her intelligence, her kindness and her feisty nature; this causing Tights to blush considerably while been thankful for the low light on M-2 hiding this.
When Tyber brought Tights home that night, he was surprised when Tights invited him in for a coffee - since they normally would just wave each other off and have a small hug at best. Needless to say, Tyber didn't return to his ship until the next morning.
- From then on for the next three years (Age 750 to Age 753), Tyber and Tights began to 'date' properly, with the dates ranging from trips out into space together and other times just spending time together on Omori's Island; Tyber coming to truly appreciate the planet and treat it like a second home. This got to the point where the Galactic Patrol set up a system for Tyber to convert his wages into Earth currency if need be, since their money wasn't accepted on Earth. Due to thinking that Kakarot had never arrived on Earth, Tyber never went looking for him and kept his own power level low to avoid accidents - fully unaware of what Kakarot (Goku) had and was getting up to.
As for Tights, she hadn't spoken to her parents much about her "boyfriend", nor even that much to her sister Bulma, but was reasoning that the time was right for Tyber to meet her Mum and Dad. So, in Age 753, during the time the 22nd World Martial Arts Tournament was taking place, she called Tyber - who at the time was returning from a mission with Jaco - and stated that she wanted to introduce him to her parents properly; Jaco deciding to pay a visit to Earth himself to get a gift for his girlfriend by taking advantage of the "Credits-to-Zeni" currency exchange that the Galactic Patrol had set up, with him wearing the coat and hat he wore when he was last on Earth.
- Tyber's meeting with Tight's parents went better than he was expecting - with the Saiyan having genuinely been nervous at this beforehand, but with both Dr. Briefs and Bikini proving to be easy to get along with, despite Dr. Briefs occasionally getting his name wrong or asking Tights a question she'd already told him the answer to. However, when the two were saying their goodbyes to Tight's parents, Bikini caught their attention with an unexpected joke:
Bikini: "You know it's funny; seeing both our girls doing their own thing in different places, and yet both meet handsome young men who have tails".
- Hearing this, Tyber stopped dead in his tracks and spun around before asking Bikini to clarify what she meant, to which Bikini stated that Bulma had encountered and befriended a boy called "Goku" - who had hair that was black and spiky, a brown-furred tail and apparently had been found by an elderly martial artist in the mountains one day; Tights remembering her parents telling her about Goku but neither of them mentioning a tail as it was overshadowed by Bulma dramatically breaking up with Yamcha at the time.
Tyber, however, took a piece of paper and a pencil before roughly sketching what he remembered Bardock's hair looking like, with his heart rate quickening. After finishing it, it handed it to Tight's parents and asked if Goku's hair was that style, with the two looking it over before indeed confirming it; adding that Bulma had gone to Papaya Island to watch Goku and her friends compete at the World Martial Arts Tournament.
After getting past the initial shock, Tyber thanked them and bid them farewell before he and Tights raced to his ship.
- With Tights directing him to Papaya Island, Tyber radioed Jaco to let him know what he'd learnt and to follow his co-ordinates to Papaya Island - with Jaco himself reacting in shock upon hearing that the Saiyan he was supposed to intercept all those years ago had slipped through his fingers. Needless to say, both Tyber and Tights flew on to Papaya Island; nervous and excited to find out if Jaco's report had been incorrect, and if the second son of Bardock and Gine was indeed still alive...

For Part 05, we enter Dragon Ball properly with the Tien Shinhan Saga, as Tyber, Tights and Jaco reach Papaya Island to watch the last day of the World Martial Arts Tournament. However, how will the day change when the precursor of an ancient evil makes its move?
Hope you like what you've read and curious to see what you guys think.
