This is something that just came to me.
Putting aside the "Plot Armor" reasons, why was Future Gohan so weak?
We know he was able to become a Super Saiyan and that while he was below the Androids, both SS Gohan and SS Trunk were at least able to put up a fight against Androids 17 & 18.
But here is the question. If SS Gohan with both arms was able to at least put up a fight against the androids, why wasn't he significantly stronger after losing his arm? We know that the power boost that Saiyans get from near death experiences is... inconsistent.
Vegeta after fighting on earthy went from Cui's power to beyond Zarbon but weaker then most of the Ginyu force to being able to fight 1st form Frieza.
So shouldn't Future Gohan get a massive power boost after the near death experience that cost his his arm? But instead, Gohan seems to be the exact same power, if not weaker due to not having an arm for versatility.
Was there ever an explanation given as to why the Saiyan power increase after near death didn't effect Gohan?

Batalia is an OC character in the Dragon Ball Universe. She is an alien princess from the planet of the same name, similar to Vegeta, who is the prince of Planet Vegeta. On her planet, the Batalians are a race of aliens, who, like the Saiyans, enjoy a good battle. However, unlike the Saiyans, who were driven to extinction by Frieza, Planet Batalia, and it's inhabitants are still alive, due to their resourcefulness.
Unlike Prince Vegeta, Batalia is a little more humble with her position as a princess. She doesn't let her pride get in the way of doing the right thing. Similar to the Saiyans, Batalia loves to fight strong opponents to increase her strength.
Batalia has white hair, black eyes, she wears a purple armor vest, with bracers, and boots, a white skirt. Batalia's signature technique is called the Hope Bomb, a giant ball of energy that she can create with just one hand. Her Hope Bomb technique is an attack that is so powerful, it could destroy an entire planet if it hits the ground. Enjoy.

The glaring drawback of Super Saiyan 3's energy consumption has widely been sited as the Achilles heel of the powerful form. There have been several attempts of working around the weakness: rigorous training, perfecting Super Saiyan 2, different forms entirely. However, the Saiyans of Universe 6 discovered a way to fully utilize the strength of Super Saiyan 3. Using the latest technology, these Saiyans experimented on a soldier named Shoga, making him one of the first Bionic Saiyans. By channeling the energy of his infinite energy engine, he can bypass the massive drain as well as boost the form's power even further.
Unfortunately, Saiyans aren't exactly the brightest engineers, with the engine having a clear limit to how long it can used at maximum output. If pushed past this limit, the engine can potentially malfunction and obliterate Shoga's body. In the case that Shoga throws caution to the wind and ignores his limits, his body undergoes a deadlier transformation: Super Saiyan Raze. Containing a literal inferno inside of him, Shoga loses all sense of self and becomes a raging beast. All hairs on his body burst into flames and fire spews from the engine through his scars.
After encountering Shoga in his MAX form, a Bionic Saiyan from Universe 7 named Sage learns how to transform as well. Due to Sage's conversion being more sophisticated, she doesn't have to worry about the threat of transforming into Raze. However, this safeguard would be a hinderance when facing Shoga in his Raze state as his beserker style and intense heat made it difficult for her to pose a threat to the Saiyan veteran.
