I don't remember exactly what she said, but she told them that if they took Earth's fastest spaceship that it would take thousands of years to reach Namek. That's when Mr. Popo arrived to offer them Kami's old ship, which they took.

But then using Goku’s busted saiyan pod Dr. Briefs made a ship that got Goku to Namek in what, five days? Bulma could easily make one of the same speed or faster, and spending time finding New Namek is worth it if they get to revive almost everyone that died fighting the androids

The difference there is that once they had the co-ordinates for Namek, it was easier to calculate how long it would take to get there.

With New Namek, they have no co-ordinates to calculate how long it would take to get there and back, so they've no idea what part of space it's in and King Kai isn't helping.

It's the interstellar equivalent of looking for a needle in a haystack.
